"Looks Good" Isn't good enough.
The idea for Lai began when Founder and naturopath Ashleigh discovered that many of the activewear brands she wore every day weren't aligned with the wellness values she lived by.
Movement is medicine. So surely the clothes we exercise and live in should be held to a higher standard, too.
Yet most people have little visibility into the materials, finishes, and chemicals used in the clothing they wear closest to their skin. At Lai, we believe you deserve better—better transparency, better materials, and better choices.
That's why we set out to create activewear that looks and feels like the pieces we already know and love, while prioritising bio-based materials, third-party testing for harmful chemicals, and consciously selected fabrics free from PFAS finishes, BPA-containing materials, and PVC coatings.

The Lai Way
Every Lai piece is crafted using innovative bio-based materials, reducing reliance on fossil fuel plastics by up to 50% compared to conventional activewear. Made with OEKO-TEX® certified fabrics that are third-party tested for harmful chemicals, our collections feature consciously selected materials free from PFAS finishes, BPA-containing materials, and PVC coatings. Thoughtfully designed for women, Lai combines premium comfort, performance, and style with a commitment to better materials and higher standards.We are proud to say that our products are low-tox, no greenwashing, no underpaid labour and no support for unfair working conditions.
Bio-Based Stretch
Stretch is essential in activewear, but traditionally elastane is one of the most petroleum-dependent fibres used in the industry.
That's why we chose a bio-based elastane made using renewable plant resources instead of relying entirely on fossil fuels.
Derived partly from industrial dent corn, this innovative fibre significantly reduces carbon emissions and water consumption compared to conventional elastane while maintaining the same exceptional stretch, recovery and performance.
The result is activewear that hugs, supports and moves with your body exactly as it should — while taking a step towards a more responsible future.

Plant-Based Performance
At Lai, we believe activewear should perform beautifully while being made more thoughtfully.
Our signature fabric is crafted using bio-based polyamide derived from castor beans — a resilient plant that grows in arid conditions with minimal water requirements. Unlike conventional activewear fabrics that rely heavily on fossil-fuel-derived resources, our fabric incorporates renewable plant-based materials without compromising on performance.
The result is a fabric that feels buttery-soft against the skin, offers exceptional durability, breathability and stretch, and is designed to move effortlessly with your body.
